Stargazing Tours in the Coconino Nat’l Forest
From April through late September each year, Night Owl Tours offers Sedona star tours at forest locations in our beautiful Red Rock Country. We operate our tours under permit the United States Forest Service. This gives us access to some of the best dark sky locations that Sedona has to offer.
Your guide will meet you at the parking lot of the Sedona Public Library. From there, you will follow behind our vehicle to the observation site. Our telescopes will already be set up at the observation site. Every site we use is accessible from paved or well maintained dirt roads, and you won’t need a high clearance vehicle to access them. Currently, we cannot offer transportation to the observing sites. There’s barely any room left for our astronomers after all our gear is loaded!
About the Tour
Each stargazing tour lasts two hours. Your guide will begin with a quick tour of the constellations. Using a handheld laser, they will trace the star patterns and share the stories behind them. The constellations serve as celestial landmarks, guiding us through the night sky. Along the way, you may spot planets, the Milky Way, and even artificial satellites.
Once you have the celestial “lay of the land”, we dive deep with our powerful telescopes. We use video astronomy techniques to stream live views of star clusters, nebulae, and galaxies from the telescope to a 4K OLED TV screen. This allows your entire group to enjoy the view simultaneously, and reveals details the human eye just can’t see.

Mobile Stargazing Tours
Year round, we offer mobile astronomy tour services. Our telescopes can be set up anywhere. If you are staying at a home or vacation rental in the Sedona / Verde Valley area, and would like to have a custom private tour at your location, we are ready to serve you right from your terrace or backyard.
